Working with Schools
There may be times when you are just too close to the situation, too emotionally involved, to objectively represent and advocate effectively for your child. At Partners with Parents, we can represent you in the school so you can take a step back.
You can feel comfortable with us because we identify with you both as parents and as English speakers. We understand what you want for your child and can communicate that to the school. We also recognize, however, the difficulties a classroom teacher faces, when expected to individualize her curriculum. We find ways to help your child; ways that work for both you and the teacher.
We understand the bureaucracy of the school system and know how to work with it and around it.

When we work with schools for you, we become a team player with the other entire professionals already working at the school. We see ourselves filling a number of different roles.
|
- Educational Liaison
We make the phone calls for you! We initiate, coordinate, and consult with school staff members (teachers, school principal, guidance counselor and school psychologist) on a regular basis throughout the school year. We work the phone or set up and attend meetings as often as it takes to explain your child’s needs. When necessary, we prepare and present a presentation (with an accompanying Hebrew handout) to the staff, explaining your child’s specific difficulties and listing effective classroom accommodations and strategies.
|
- Coordinator - Implementing Educational Goals
We work with you, the classroom teacher, and other involved professionals to choose, design, implement and monitor classroom accommodations and curriculum adjustments. At Partners with Parents, we maintain regular contact with all of your child’s teachers to monitor and adjust educational goals.
|
- Legal Educational Advocate
We join you as your legal professional representative at school meetings and official vaadot, both in the school and at your local municipality.
|
Coordination between parents and the school staff is essential.
We help make that happen!
