Then we...

  • Plan a Course of Action
Together we formulate a realistic course of action which suits the individual needs of your child and your entire family.  At Partners with Parents, we design an adjustable, individualized educational plan (IEP) and/or behavioral modification program which can be implemented in stages, both at home and in school - in cooperation with the educational staff.
  • Teach You Effective Advocacy Skills
At Partners with Parents, we teach you how to advocate effectively for your child in school. We you prepare for school meetings; help you know how to "work" the Israeli educational system, know your child's rights; and interact effectively with teachers and other school personnel. We are also available to be an advocate for you and your child should you decide that would like a professional ally. (read more about your child's educational rights...)
  • Implement Educational Goals
Our educational consultants coordinate goals between all the professionals (e.g., teachers, tutors, therapists, etc.) helping your child. Through email contact, phone calls and team meetings we work hard to ensure  that the educational and behavioral goals we designed together, are being effectively implemented and maintained througout the school year.
  • Help You Parent Your LD Child
Being a parent is a tough job. Parenting children with learning disabilities is even harder. You already know how to juggle work and day to day chores with car pools, therapy and tutoring sessions. What you may not realize however, is that your child with learning disabilities may need different parenting than your other children. Your parenting style, which is unique and intuitive to you, and successful with the rest of your family, may not be working for your child with LD. At Partners with Parents, we can help you understand your child's behavioral and developmental needs, suggest alternative parenting skills, and when necessary, refer you to additional professionals for consultation.
  • Monitor progress
A good plan is most effective when it is implmented consistently and systematically and adjusted as goals are met. Even the best teachers, with the compassiona and good will, may find it difficult to remember how to help your child, while managing the needs of an entire class. At Partners with Parents, we monitor your child's progress through regular discussions with you and her teachers. We maintain communication throughout the school year and adjust goals, step by step, working towards continuous progress and success.

Private Consultations

We take the time to listen to you and think carefully about all aspects of your child's development and education. By doing so, we are able to form an opinion about the general nature of your child's difficulties. We then put you in touch with the right specialists. We also recommend the type of evaluations which can help to diagnosis a specific developmental or learning disability.

After we receive all the information, we read through all the reports, cross check data and clarify discrepencies. We compile and integrate the summaries and recommendations from doctors, psychologists, therapists and teachers. If we feel an issue has been overlooked, then we present our reasons to you and discuss why it may be necessary to delve further. We talk to you about the conclusions and recommendations and discuss the educational, social and emotional needs of your child. At Partners with Parents we know how confusing this process can be and want to help you make sense of it all.

We were recently approached by a couple who were anxious about helping their fourth grade daughter. Their daughter, who had been accurately diagnosed with a language based learning disability, was exhibiting inattentiveness in the classroom, yet was unresponsive to Ritalin and didn’t seem to fit the ADD profile. They had consulted with a variety of specialists, but were uncomfortable with the diagnosis of ADD. It just didn’t feel right to them.

At Partners with Parents we carefully read through all the reports, cross referenced information provided by each specialist, interviewed the parents, child and teachers. Our comprehensive review of ALL the material, suggested the possibility of CAPD as the cause for her difficulties learning in a crowded and noisy classroom. An evaluation at the Speech and Hearing Clinic at Hadassah Hospital confirmed the diagnosis.  Determining the correct diagnosis enabled us to provide specific and effective recommendations to the teachers and parents to maximize their daughter’s chances of becoming a better student.
