Treating Children and Teens with AD/HD:  A Multi-Modality Approach - Part II

January 2009

Dear Friends,

This month's newsletter is the second part of our two part series about ADHD and focuses on alternative and complementary treatments. Research shows that more and more families are incorporating these treatments into their total AD/HD treatment plan in addition to the conventional routes of medication and behavior modification. We hope that a better understanding of the wide range of treatment options for AD/HD will help you put together and implement the most effective treatment plan for you or your child.

At this point, we are thrilled to let you know about important changes here at Partners with Parents.  Partners with Parents, as of the year 2009, is now running exclusively as a non-profit organization, known officially as Partners with Parents R"A/ ùåúôåú òí äåøéí ò"ø.   It is our hope that this change will allow us to expand our programs and offer our services to more children and their families.

At this critical time in Israel, we send our prayers and good wishes to all of our soldiers fighting on behalf of our country in the war in Gaza.  May they return home quickly and safely.

Best wishes,

Gayle and Esther.

AD/HD Tip #1 - Before you begin!

Discuss any complementary or alternative medicine approaches with a qualified medical professional before you begin.  Some approaches, such as herbal or vitamin supplements, should only be taken under careful medical supervision, especially if the person is also taking conventional medication.

ADHD Tip #2: Kupat Cholim coverage!

All four of the kupot cholim have complementary medicine clinics and offer subsidized services to patients that pay for extra medical coverage.  Services and qualification vary.  Check with your kupah (HMO)  to see if your family is eligible.  (Links to Maccabi and Meuchedet clinics are located in this newsletter.)
